Gean Martin started his career with Prudential in the Group department assisting large employers (over 1,000 employees) in the design and administration of their health insurance plans. During his tenure with Prudential, he had the opportunity to work with a number of notable clients including Holiday Inn and the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association. His success lead him up the corporate ladder until his next move was slated to be Newark, NJ. In a somewhat humorous moment, Gean recalls when his wife, Linda, who is from Virginia said “If you take this position, and want to move to Newark New Jersey, you’re going alone”. Wouldn’t you know, Gean decided it was time to make a career change.
In 1980 Gean & Linda moved to beautiful Savannah, GA, where they still reside, and started what is now Martin Financial Group. With his expertise in health insurance, proven business experience and willingness to work his way to success, the humble beginnings of MFG was up and running. In a short period of time, he established himself as a trusted advisor to business owners and physicians.
Over the next 20+ years, Gean’s work ethic and commitment to continual education led him to become a trusted and proven resource for clients, accountants and attorneys. He recognized the needs of his clients and expanded the services that he was providing to include life insurance, disability insurance, annuities, retirement plans and more.
As the business grew, his sons Tony and Todd joined the firm in 2001 and 2003 respectively. Their experience, expertise and interest allowed the firm to further expand its product offerings. Over time, as the market changed and client needs were ever-expanding, it became clear that leaving the big Wall Street firm, and becoming an independent firm was what was in our client’s best interest. In 2008 we did just that.
The most important thing about being an independent firm, is our only fiduciary responsibility is to you. We have the ability to offer a wide range of financial, investment, and insurance products. That’s why successful people seek out high quality consultants, not product salespeople.
In 2014 the firm re-launched M3 Advisors. This addition has enabled us to promote our focus on business consulting (strategy) to the already robust offering of products (solutions) that Martin Financial Group has become nationally recognized for.
